Over 11,000 SF of 59'x9' double T's were removed on the 3 different floors
of this existing building. The building is surrounded by a multi-level
parking deck which was constructed after the building. This negated any
use of cranes to fly these T's out of the building because of the reach
over the parking deck. The next option would be to saw cut and remove
the T's but the 3-week schedule would eliminate this option. We decided
to shore the T's and break them with a remote control hammer. The remote
control hammer allowed us to break the T's from the top without placing
our men on a leading edge.
